I spent many weeks going around looking at different martial Arts classes of different types. The first thing that stood out to me at the Cassar Academy compared to the other classes I had looked at was how welcoming and friendly the instructors were as well as the other students irrespective of belt rank.
Having spent many years in the British Army as an Infantry Soldier I had to keep my fitness up to a high level. Now, as a prison Officer in one of London's largest prison's, I was looking for something to help keep my fitness up. I thought maybe one day I may need to help defend myself as the streets we live in can sometimes be dangerous.
In the Cassar Academy of Choi Kwang Do I found that it meets all my needs and all I was looking for. In one class I can get a better cardio work-out than I would get from going to the gym for hours. My flexibility co-ordination and agility is better now at 41 years old than it has ever been. There is a saying that goes: 'You get out of things what you put in,' and I for one think this is very true. If you put the time and effort in to Choi Kwang Do you will get great benefits from it in mind, body and soul and therefore a better, happier life.

At the start of January, 2009, a flyer was put through my door about The Cassar Academy. Ten years ago I was a dancer and extremely fit, but had left that behind when I went to drama school to train as an actress. After 6 years in 'the business', although I didn't consider myself unhealthy, I was eager to seize the opportunity of making a new year's resolution to get fit again and to learn something new.
I haven't looked back since and Choi is now somewhat of an obsession for me - in fact, I try to fit my other commitments around classes, rather than vice versa. I love the discipline of the art and how I always have something to be working on and improving, not to mention having the opportunity to push myself further than I thought I could and testing my boundaries.
I am pleased to have been welcomed into the 'Choi family' and have made friends with a similar outlook on life. I just can't rave about Choi enough, although those closest to me would, I'm sure, disagree!!
Lastly, my career is a very frustrating and uncertain one and, in Choi, I have found a healthy and effective way to deal with the stresses and tensions of my everyday life.
