How CKD has helped me.

I started CKD approximately 3 months ago and wished that I had been introduced to it 3 years ago

I am a retired orthopaedic nurse, who worked in a large London hospital. I had to retire because my arthritic condition escalated rendering me unable to perform my duty professionally and to the best of my ability.

One failed knee replacement with severe joint pain and reduced mobility left me with low self esteem and very little self confidence, trying to maintain a positive outlook in my life.

I took my granddaughter to the Cassar Academy of Choi Kwang Do for her CKD lessons and enjoyed watching so much that I signed up for a taster lesson myself. Since I've joined to date, I am enjoying a much greater level of mobility, my self-confidence is upgraded and my self-esteem is on its up.

I am very impressed by the support given to me by Mr. Cassar the Academy owner and all his instructors; always friendly, encouraging and giving praise for your efforts. Thanks to Mr. Cassar and the team for taking me to the level I am now, both in fitness and wellbeing.

Regardless of age, or ability I would encourage others who are at a stage in their life where they would like to take on a new challenge, to consider a visit to CKD, just to see what wonderful things they can achieve and the impact it can have on their lives.

Civil Servant

I am a 47 year old married mother of 2 who joined the Cassar Academy nearly 4 years ago. When I joined Choi Kwang Do I had no balance, no focus, poor concentration and problems with my left and right due to dyslexia. I am now a Black Belt student and a different person. I am ambitious, I set goals for myself which are achievable, my balance, focus and concentration have all improved and my well being, both physically and mentally is the best it has ever been.

I have witnessed children in the class developed life skills such as discipline, team work, respect and dedication which have become part and parcel of their everyday lives.

There are several negative misconceptions about martial arts that are held, mainly by people who have only a second hand experience of it. The Academy is family orientated. We have parents who attend class with their children, fathers with their sons, mothers and daughters and married couples.

I am a civil servant working in Whitehall and provide advice to Ministers on changes to Electoral Law. The Academies students range from senior members of the Police Service, local business men and other professional people.

The level of respect that is awarded Mr Cassar at the Academy and within the community is second to none and well deserved.

School Teacher

I started CKD as an 18 year old looking for something to keep me amused and fit. CKD did that and more, over the last 7 years I have got more from my training than I could ever have imagined.

I am now a School Teacher and Head Instructor, an idea which when I started training I didn't even entertain. CKD started as something to amuse me, I now cannot imagine not being involved.
