A team fitness challenge to all our members who bring along a buddy (non member)!
We mentioned in the January newsletter that in March we would launch the 90-DAY FITNESS CHALLENGE (Registration by 21st March 2011). This is a team event consisting of a Cassar Academy of Choi Kwang Do member and a buddy (non member) to pair up for a 90-day fitness challenge with a fantastic Grand Prize of £500 on offer for the winning team. The challenge will give members and non-members the opportunity to set goals (fitness, weight loss etc.) and we will help you to monitor your progress, give you nutritional tips and advice and measure your BMI (including heart rate, blood pressure, weight and body fat content).

If you are aspiring to gain a confident beach body in time for the summer, or are looking to start a healthier lifestyle then the 90 day fitness challenge is the perfect way forward! Everything will be aimed at helping you to reach your targets within a 90 day period.

6th Monthly Excerpt From ‘Spark’
“Exercise improves learning on three levels: first it optimises your mind-set to improve alertness, attention and motivation; second, it prepares and encourages nerve cells to bind to one another, which is the cellular basis for logging in new information; and third, it spurs the development of the new nerve cells from stem cells in the hippocampus. The point I've tried to make - that exercise is the single most powerful tool you have to optimize your brain function.”

Class Training
FOCUS OF FEBRUARY:PERSONAL: HONESTY, PHYSICAL: COMBINATIONS FOCUS OF MARCH:PERSONAL: GENTLENESS, PHYSICAL: RESISTANCE TRAINING FOCUS FOR APRIL:PERSONAL: RESPECT, PHYSICAL: HEALTH AND FITNESS
Health & Fitness will be a big focus for the month of April coinciding with our fantastic 90 day fitness challenge! We will be looking at everything from raising fitness levels to nutritional tips and advice. Did you know that....a single can of fizzy drink can contain as much as 40-50g of sugar! Somebody who drinks one can a day could put on 15lb over a year. Caroline Apovian, a US nutrition expert writing a commentary on the study, says that the human race has probably not yet evolved to cope with these sugar-loaded drinks. "A better mechanism for weight gain could not have developed ... Liquid calories are a relatively new addition to the human diet - perhaps the human satiety circuit has not yet adapted to register these calories for what they are," she writes.
