I have just got back from an amazing trip to Choi Kwang Do International Headquarters in America and wanted to share the experience with you.

Choi Kwang Do HQ is an amazing place to visit as there are always instructors and students visiting from all over the world. The week I was there I met instructors from Russia and Korea who have been there for 2 months training with Grand Master Choi as well as assisting with classes that are run daily in the main School.

Grand Master Choi the Founder of Choi Kwang Do bestowed me the greatest honour by meeting with me and coaching me 1 to 1 for the first 2 days of my visit. On the third day a good friend of mine Donnalynn Patakos from New Brunswick near New York came as my guest to meet and train with Grand Master Choi.

Donnalynn Patakos is a great martial artist and owns one of the largest and most successful martial arts schools on the east coast of America with over 850 students. This was the first time Mrs. Patakos and Grand Master Choi had met and both were very impressed with each other. The next two days were spent introducing Donnalynn to Choi Kwang Do and by the end of her stay her understanding and ability of Choi Kwang Do was quite outstanding. Mrs. Patakos is also an accomplished business woman and shared many of her business concepts and systems for running successful Martial Arts schools with us.

Friday, Grand Master Choi and I discussed his vision for the future and the next evolutionary stages of Choi Kwang Do both in training and the running of Successful CKD Schools. All I can say is, “hold onto your hats” as there are some great things on the horizon!!

Saturday was a very big day for me as this was the day I was officially promoted to 5th Degree Black Belt and Master instructor by Grand master Choi. I also finished my Faculty course by completing the terminology section of Choi Kwang Do in Korean!!

What a trip! I can’t wait to get back to class and teach all the new stuff I’ve learnt as I know that my students and instructors are not only going to love it but hugely benefit from it as well.

Pil Suhng!
